15 Mar Small Pleasures
I bumped into my brother in the street today. We spotted each other from across the road. Hey! We joined up and went for coffee, spontaneously. Actually, only I drank coffee and ate an apple bubba while we chatted and analyzed certain elements of life. Then we went to do our groceries together. He had a list. I had a list in my mind. We got our goods, together and separately, rejoining in different aisles over same products. Honey! We love honey. He tells me Obama’s favorite food is broccoli, so we both bought some of that, too. I checked out. He was still shopping for crackers. Good night, brother! Good night, sis. And now I’m home. I’ve sat down to write this before I bring out my Oka cheese and salami and wine and crackers because it was a sweet and unplanned happening. It was beautiful and simple, this Saturday afternoon-into-evening. Thank you, Monkland Village. Thank you for neighbourhoods, that my brother and I live in the same one. Thank you that I’m eating crackers and cheese and wine for dinner because I’m thinking of my boyfriend who did it a few weeks ago while we FaceTimed – I’ve been thinking of the Mmmmmm ever since! May we enjoy the small pleasures in life, for this is life.
